Billing Policy

Norwest Family Doctors is a Mixed Billing Practice, which helps the Clinic maintain high-quality healthcare. This means we offer both Bulk-Billing to eligible patients and private billing to all other patients.

Our Billing Policy has been updated to reflect the changes that came into effect on 1 November 2025.

Important changes to

Bulk-Billing

From 1 July 2027, all patients must complete an Assignment of Benefit form in order for a bulk billed service to be paid by Medicare on your behalf. If this is not completed, you will incur the full payment of your consultation.

Under our mixed billing system, patients will be charged an out-of-pocket fee for certain medical services, while some services will still be bulk-billed. The fee charged will depend on the doctor you are consulting, the type of service provided (including face to face and Telehealth consultations), and your eligibility for Medicare benefits.

Most Doctors will Bulk-bill:

  • Standard appointments of less than 15 minute duration (for our MyMedicare registered patients with a valid Medicare card)

  • Pension/Concession card holders

  • Patients over 75 years

  • All children

  • Eligible DVA card holders

  • Health Assessments and Chronic Condition Management Plans

  • If we recall you to discuss a test result

  • Flu and Covid vaccinations

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients

Note that Mental Health Plans may now incur an additional fee of $50 due to the removal of mental health items from the MBS by the government changes on 1 November 2025.

Since opening in May 2022, our mission has always been to build a medical hub that provides doctors the ability to deliver affordable, compassionate and professional care in a state-of-the-art space with a focus on enhancing every patient’s health journey. Unfortunately, the Medicare rebates do not reflect the true cost of delivering this best standard of care to patients, making a universal Bulk-Billing system not sustainable.

Full payment is required on the day of your consultation, and when EFTPOS is used, your Medicare rebate can be repaid instantly into your bank account.

Our reception team will be able to assist you with any queries you may have regarding the change.

The team at Norwest Family Doctors extend our thanks and gratitude for your support of our practice and look forward to continuing our relationship with you into the future.
